Hmm. Well, I liked it, but it was no Train to Busan. I don’t know, I didn’t find myself feeling tense or spooked by this movie. And the characters, perhaps because of how they were drawn, didn’t feel quite like who they should have felt like to me. The story was decent, little variation from any other zombie flick, and the voice acting was a little odd, but maybe it’s just because I don’t understand the language. The art was beautiful, though, and the scenes often melded the simplicity of a 2D feeling with some intense 3D trickery. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. Worth a watch, but something about the zombie genre just didn’t translate to animation here. Overall, it was a mildly disappointing experience of a movie that, were it live action, would have most likely shined above the others in its genre in the way Train to Busan did.
